Many people are feeling turbulence right now and a sense of being pulled in many directions. As a result, personal boundaries are being imposed and many are taking on much more than they should right now. On this matter there are two Animal Totems that can help.
The first is the Armadillo. This animal known for its hard, thick skin is an animal we should study, for its meaning can apply to us. The Armadillo asks us to look at where others have pushed beyond our boundaries and how we may have allowed others into our protective circles. The second animal totem than can help us put this into prospective is the Raven. A Raven is the animal that can see both the past and the future and can help us see how our future has been molded by our own past action or inaction.
Many of us are so very wrapped up in all the problems brought about from the outside it is often hard to see how our actions lead us onto specific paths. For example, if you are experiencing stress because of everyone coming to you with their problems, Raven shows that we have taught these people to seek us out and we will help. What we are not doing is helping these people learn how to problem solve on their own. For example, this leads to our being overwhelmed by a sister who is always depending on us to baby-sit. Another example could be a parent that needs help — we are always relied upon because our brothers and sisters are not. Raven teaches us to look at how we could have expressed our needs more clearly. Being able to state our limitations can help us not be so overwhelmed in the future. But in order for others to appreciate our limitations, we need to see our limitations for ourselves or we will continue to be on a maddening merry-go-round.
So with the Armadillo to guide us with our boundaries and the Raven to help us sow our future by acting in our best interests, we can begin to sow a more harmonious "present" when we get there.
