Make a Difference Day started as a national day in October of 1990 to encourage people to help others by volunteering in their community.

Making a difference in the world doesn’t mean that you have to go out and do some incredible thing – it can be as small as bringing someone dinner, picking up trash or doing something nice for someone for no other reason than to be nice. This is what this day is all about. It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you do something to make a difference.
